Epitalon, also known as Epithalon or Epithalone, is a synthetic tetrapeptide consisting of four amino acids with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG). It was developed from research into the peptide composition of Epithalamin, a pineal-gland peptide extract.
Epitalon has been investigated in laboratory and animal studies involving cellular ageing, gene expression, oxidative-stress responses, circadian signalling and telomerase activity. The available evidence remains largely preclinical, and its mechanisms are still being investigated.
